Alexis fans rejoice! This week on General Hospital, Alexis finally decides it's finally time to tell Sonny how she feels about him.

So what took so long? "Alexis is a master of control," offers Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis). "She's ethical, and he is not hers to be had. There's Another woman involved."

That would be Carly. "Another thing, too, this is not the kind of man she'd think would be appropriate for her," Grahn points out. "This is sort of like college, where your heart goes pitter-patter and you do things you normally wouldn't do or say. I don't think she had that experience in high school or college, but she's having it now. She's more mature than this, in appearance and how she thinks of herself."

Even when Alexis tries to forget her favorite client by accepting a date with Scott at the PC Grill, whoops, there's Sonny...and Courtney...and Mike! When a fight breaks out at the table (the man can't even go out for a burger without causing a scene), Alexis ditches Scott and brings Courtney back to the penthouse. Alexis does her damnedest to play peacemaker and defends Sonny to Courtney, revealing the details of his troubled childhood and estrangement with Mike. When Alexis offers Sonny a shoulder to cry on later, she decides she can't hide her emotions any longer.

"I hear a lot of people like Sonny and Alexis as a couple," muses Grahn. "I think the network is going, 'Oh, now what do we do?' This [romance] came out of the blue, which is what happens in real life."

Sonny and Carly fans certainly didn't see it coming---and they're not happy that Alexis is in and Carly is out.

"Alexis comes across as Sonny's mother, not his love," slams bouncybrunette on the Web site wicked-games.com, which comes as no suprise to Grahn,

who knows what she's up against. "The Carly fans are tough. I wouldn't want to meet them in an alley," she cracks. "They're going to beat me up."

But the growing legion of Sexis fans is standing strong. "This will be the new supercouple of GH," predicts sonnydaman at wicked-games.com. "These two confide in each other like I have never seen them with anyone before."

Maurice Benard, who's had a long investment in the Sonny/Carly relationship, supports a Sonny/Alexis pairing, too. "It's just there," he marvels. "We're in a scene and there's no work. This relationship came subtly---it wasn't forced. It wasn't like, 'OK, let's get a chick and put her here with this guy.' Whatever happens now will make sense."

Benard adds that each of his leading ladies---the other being Tamara Braun---shows a different side to Sonny. "Nancy brings out the fun side, and Sonny cares about Alexis a lot," he offers. "The fun and the caring is nice, also the teasing, that I like to do. Tamara brings out the pain and the love."

Which begs the question: What happens to Carly now.

"Ah, Carly loves Sonny---there's no doubt about it. But interesting things happen to her," teases GH head writer Megan McTavish. "We opened her up, got her in a business deal with Jax. We got Zander watching her for Sonny. I would just say that unexpected romance is a theme for this winter."

Don't count Carly out of this triangle just yet. "Carly is close to Mike. That will bring Carly and Sonny into each other's orbit again," promises McTavish. "It also brings Alexis into his orbit again. So, the questions becomes, 'Does all this emotional complication draw Alexis and Sonny together? And if so, what is Carly's response."

Indeed. Fans are divided about whom they want Sonny to be with (Alexis or Carly), whom they want Ned to be with (Alexis or Kristina) and whom they want Jax to be with (Alexis or Skye).

"I'm lucky because my fans support me no matter what I do," says Grahn. "But Maurice is getting reactions like, 'I'll kill you if you go with Alexis.' There's a war going on, they're very vocal. I go on the internet sometimes to see what they have to say. I'm a big believer that if you're going to read reviews you've got to be okay with the bad ones. Most of the fans are very good, very protective. If someone says anything bad about me, 50 people will say, 'How could you say that?' I think I can't get my feelings hurt and then I'll be sitting there almost crying: 'I tried to do a good job!' But let's face it: Alexis is a mess and I worked hard to ger her that way."

Whatever Grahn is doing, it seems to be working.

"I am not a twentysomething, midriff-baring chick, so this is all good news for me," she beams, "because I'm working with the hottest tamale on the show."

pimping might cost her? Talk about being unprofessional. It would be one thing if she used her position to do an editorial calling for Suxis, if that's what she wants to shill. That's what editorial columns are for. But, to try to trick the readers into thinking S&C is OUT and Suxis is in, just to pimp her bestest friend, Nancy, just seems to cross a line to me.[Editorial note: A few weeks back the poster who willl henceforth be called, TheAuthor, did a post suggesting that Ms. Grahn was using her friends at the magazines to get magazine coverage. The person who posted this is referring to one of the magazine editors that TheAuthor suggested were in cahoots with Ms. Grahn.] And, if ABC is trying to sell S&C for Sweeps, this article has caused many a fan to bail on them and I can't see them being happy about that.

I know I've bought my last SonnyAlexisDigest and SonnyAlexisWeekly, aka ''Grahn's Pimps R Us''...they can spread their bias on someone else's dime.

think it was meant of as a joke. If she meant it to be, she should have qualified it as one. How many people not online are going to read that and believe her? Also, if it was a joke, SOW didn't do her any favors by desribing her as making a ''crack.'' For anyone who doesn't know what that means, the definition is ''mischevious or malicious remark, gibe.'' Mischevious means ''playfully malicious or harmful.'' Gibe means ''jeering or mocking.'' So in no way shape or form does the word ''cracks'' represent a joke. I just think that Leheay likes Sexis and Nancy.[Editorial note: Lynn Leahey is the Editorial Director of Soap Opera Weekly Magazine] She didn't want the letter writing to slow down. The SID article that had new quotes last week basically shut down a romance for Sexis. This way Lynn gets everyone in an uproar and the mania continues. Sexis continue's getting press and that was the whole reason for the article.

I'm not worried at all. They don't know anything and the article didn't even support their front page title.

It was all for shock value.

I think what people are trying to say is that, it just made no sense. They are not spinning it because they didn't like it, they are providing cold hard facts that the quotes were old and outdated, I don't see the problem with that at all.

I myself had a hard time swallowing those quotes yesterday after the interview that both Maurice and Nancy gave one week prior in Soaps In Depth. I also have a hard time, because the third person in this story was never interviewed.

I also have a hard time swallowing what most of Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly say because, they are biased IMO. Some people that work there are way to close to Nancy, IMO and that shows in their publications on a weekly basis.

Tell me, where was the article on Maurice getting hate mail calling him prick for accepting Tamara after Sarah left?

So, she's always going to be second best to the S&C story. She's always going to be nothing but the fall back plan. The only reason Maurice did that interview about SuxAss last spring was because he thought Tamara had been fired, and he was going to be stuck at Loon Lake with Angel. Again, NLG was second best. The lesser of two evils. NOT the first choice.

That's all she'll ever be, because she's a supporting actress with delusions of being a lead. The thought that she is sexy enough for ABC's hottest man is laughable.

See people rave about her acting but to me I feel like I am watching NLG and not Alexis. I just don't see the distinction between the two.

Her dream plot as quoted about a year ago? To have Sonny's baby as a single mother... I don't know. It just isn't very ''Cassadine'' and she is so friggin hands on with this character that I don't even SEE Alexis, I see her. Just like at times I don't see Sonny - I see Maurice, or not Luke but Tony. The ones that are so damn fascinated by their characters that they want to incorporate every little detail of their real life into them. It's annoying. I watch for characters! Not extensions of the actors.

I don't believe she has ever quoted me, no, LOL. But she knows who I am and it sours her that I don't like Alexis.

But Nancy is fighting for this story. She has an established and organized fan base who is suporting her.
